It has a sweet kind of clean scent almost citrusy(?), bitter taste.I am hoping it is the Orange Honey suckle that grows around here but the leaves look different from what I have seen.

Every Honeysuckle I know has opposite leaves and branches. Is the underside of the leaves covered with silver scales. This usually indicates its one of the Olives (Not a True Olive but a member of the genus Elaeagnus). They are often planted and escape cultivation. They can become invasive. Russian Olive has silver scales on both sides. Autumn Olive has silver scales on the underside only. There are other species but I am not familiar with them.
