Were I able to pull a complete plant up whole, it would have four or five runners a foot long with rooting happening every two to four inches

COMMENTS

This plant is Ajuga or Carpet Bugle. It is usually used as a ground cover in either full sun or partial shade. It has a purple flower spike in the spring. It spreads by runners and can be kept pretty much in check. It's carefree too.
