What you call "yellow strawlike "blooms"" are the stems. There are a number of species of Dodder (Cuscuta spp.) and most of the ones in the Northeast are native. The only two exotics are parasitic on farm crops. The flowers show up in the fall usually in clusters of round white flowers. Dodder often grows in wet areas. There is no need to do anything. Dodder is essentially harmless and should not hurt the plants on which it is growing.
