If you keep the dead heads on, they develop beautiful black pods.

I bought this plant once. I moved it while it was fairly new because I was going to move so I planted it at my moms. When it came time to move it back to my new place I realized it wasn't going anywhere. I found out like you the roots they are a force to be reckoned with. 15 yrs later it is still at my moms.
