This is a member of the Nightshade Family (Solanaceae) called Horse Nettle (Solanum carolinense) which is native to the eastern half of the United States. If you grow Tomatoes, Eggplant or Potatoes, check out the similarity between the flowers of these and the Horse Nettle which are all in the same family.
