GardenWeb Guide to Growing Perfect Tomato Plants
Step 1: Choose your seeds or plants wisely. Are you looking for fruit that will ripen over a short period (determinate) or fruit that will ripen throughout the season until the frost kicks in (indeterminate)? Do you live in an area with a short growing season (55 to 70 days) or a longer growing season? Some tomato varieties thrive in cooler climates, others in long, hot seasons. If you are growing in a smaller garden and in containers, then determinates are the best bet. Consult your local nursery or our talented GardenWeb members to determine the variety that is right for you.
